In a small, conservative town in the middle of nowhere, crime journalist Emily Jones picks up a string of missing persons cases that connect to an old, abandoned mall that once was the community's pride and joy. Emily employs the help of private detective David Loffcravv, a divorced workaholic and old college friend, and police woman Hannah Williams, the old flame of Emily. With assistance from the mall's new owner, Harold Cobber, their exploration of the peculiar building turns paranormal when they become trapped in an alternate reality fueled by the misery of its victims.
